Q: I've heard a couple places on the Internet that you need to iron your underwear--or do something else that will use high temperatures--to kill yeast so you don't reinfect yourself. I was wondering if this was true, though, since I can't seem to find a reputable source that mentions this. I also don't understand how you could 'reinfect' yourself with the yeast--since it is part of your natural vaginal ecosystem anyway. Do I need to treat my underwear or clothing that has touched my underwear in the hamper?

From initial appearance to extreme symptoms was about three days. Seeing as it was the weekend I went to the ER. They did a pelvic exam am told me all was fine I only had vaginitis from a little bacterial infection, I was given antibiotics. The next couple of days my symptoms worsened. Is it normal for a yeast infection to worsen if given antibiotics? What happens if it goes untreated? How similar is it to herpes?
